Distillery : Kilchoman Machir Bay / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 39154

Kilchoman Vintage 2008 is the oldest Kilchoman Single Malt to date, a limited edition, new addition to the vintage series launched in 2013.

Aged in Bourbon casks, a few years have sweetened this expression, and toned down the peat into a beautiful, well-balanced texture. Kilchoman Vintage 2008 reveals candied fruits aromas, lemon with a smoke whiff.

First distillery built on Islay, 125 years ago, Kilchoman has been built as a “farm-distillery” and grows its own barley.

About 100 tons are harvested and malted at the distillery, 30% of the distillery’s needs. The rest is supplied by the Port Ellen malt-house. It is also part of the 6 last distilleries operating with traditional malting processes. In 2009, Kilchoman crafted its first recognized Single Malt. Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries of Scotland with an annual production of about 100.000 liters.

Colour: pale amber.

Nose: the peat is quite strong yet sweet, giving way to a vanilla smoothness and apricot bits from the maturation, sparkled with refreshing lemon notes.

Palate: silky, with ripe fruits and light medicinal notes in the mouth, on a bed of golden barley and toffee.

Finish: with a natural peat sensation, just like breathing a basket of fruits in open air.
