Kilchoman Loch Gorm is named after the biggest Loch (lake) of Islay, where is located the independent micro-distillery Kilchoman, only a mile away from the Atlantic Ocean.

Aged in Oloroso Sherry casks for at least five years, the spirit is refined in smaller Sherry casks, bringing a wonderful complexity to the flavours. A Single Malt bursting with life like the eponymous Loch, Loch Gorm reveals truly amazing notes of peat, red fruits, chocolate and black pepper.

First distillery built on Islay, 125 years ago, Kilchoman has been built as a “farm-distillery” and grows its own barley.

About 100 tons are harvested and malted at the distillery, 30% of the distillery’s needs. The rest is supplied by the Port Ellen malt-house. It is also part of the 6 last distilleries operating with traditional malting processes. In 2009, Kilchoman crafted its first recognized Single Malt. Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries of Scotland with an annual production of about 100.000 liters.

Colour: gold with orange glints.

Nose: a strong but round peaty flavour, softened by lemon curd notes, ripe plums, candied sherry and grape must, opening on spicy aromas of cloves, black pepper on a barbecue smoke.

Palate: slightly oily, with notes of ripe red fruits, Sherry and raisins, joined by dark choclate and toffee. The peat is pervaded by spices, cloves, black pepper and bittersweet malt.

Finish: medium long, ending on cloves and dry wood smoke.
