Glenfiddich 21 Years Old Reserva Rum Cask Finish 70cl 40°

Distillery : Glenfiddich / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 20468

Glenfiddich created a true gem refining this 21 Year-Old Single Malt! The distillery aged the spirit in Bourbon barrels, then finished it for another four months in Caribbean rum barrels produced in the Sancti-Spiritus region, a town located at the heart of Cuba island.

This last step provides Reserva Rum Cask Finish with a tremendous aromatic fusion. Smooth hints of sugar cane mingle with spiced notes of pepper, lifted by exotic fruits. The aromatic palette evolves on violet flower, tobacco and vanilla, resulting in a delicously creamy and rich Single Malt revealing the unique character of Glenfiddich.

The mouthfeel is fresh and wafts heady scents of bananas and ripe fruits (pear), developing onto the sweetness of malted barley. The finale coats the palate with cocoa beans and slightly bitter chocolate.

The steep-sided valley where the Fiddich River flows, gave its name to the best-selling malt in the world.

The distillery is located on the banks of the river in Dufftown. Fiddich translates as “stag” from Gaelic and here’s why the animal is now the emblem of the distillery. This famous distillery has been established in 1886 and is still in the hands of the same family (as a limited company). In 1963, the company bet on spreading the Single Malt outside the borders of Scotland – which was considered as pure folly by blended scotch producers, deeming Single Malts as too intense, too richly aromatic or too complex for non-Scots drinkers. Glenfiddich remained traditional and is still heating its small stills with coal and ageing spirit in casks. The whiskies, aged in different woods, are blended in the Glenfiddich cellars, and bottled “at the chateau”! In fact, the distillery overlooks the complete bottling process. Glenfiddich is proud to own the most rewarded Single malt whisky range in the world.

Colour: old gold with amber glow.

Nose: rich and mellow. A basket of fresh fruits (mango, guava, bananas) lifted by vanilla and spices (ginger, nutmeg), evolving onto pipe tobacco and violet flowers.

Palate: lively and silky, clearly influenced by the rum casks finish with sugar cane and spicy notes.

Finish: long, rich, evolving on autumnal hues (woodlands, fallen leaves, mushrooms) cocoa beans and dark, slightly bitter chocolate.
