 Bassett's

Liquorice Allsorts has been discovered by chance in 1899 when a Bassett’s employee, Charles Thompson, accidentally mixed various types of sweets during his demonstration to a wholesaler.

The buyer loved the assortment so much he asked for the lot as it was.

As for the sweet’s mascot, Bertie Bassett, she was born on January 1st, 1929 and is still not planning to retire despite being 82 years old. This character became the face of Liquorice Allsorts and Bassett’s worldwide, and in 1987 a unique Bertie sweet celebrated its popularity.
