Harviestoun brewery started with beer tasting evenings organized by Ken Brooker. He created his own beers and asked his guests to fill up tasting notes.

The success of those evenings encourage Ken Brooker to acheive his dreams. He bought an old farm to transform it into a brewery.
Till 1988 only one beer was brewed, the Harviestoun Real Ale. In 2006, Caledonian Brewery bought the brewery in 2006, then Heineken bought Caledonian in 2008 but didn't wan't to keep Harviestoun Brewery. The brewery became independant again thanks to its stockholders.
