Thomas began producing botanically brewed ginger beer, a fragrant and non alcoholic beverage, with yeasts, aromatic plants and sugar  which he delivered door-to-door in the town of Cleckheaton.

Fentimans botanically brewed ginger beer quickly became very popular and the family business grew, with several brewing and production facilities being opened in the North of England. More than a hundred years afterwards, the recipe is widely recognized.

Following a unique, craft recipe, Fentimans Ginger beer is obtained from fresh ginger root, sugar, aromatic plants and yeasts mixed together and left to mature in wooden tanks. Fentimans Ginger beer used to be stored in handmade stone jars known affectionately as ‘grey hens’ , but they are today conserved in small glass bottles. Fentimans offers a wide range of excellent botanically brewed drinks, honouring traditional techniques to delight the young and old alike.
