Celebrating Ireland

Celebrated on March 17 in Ireland and around the world, this religious festival honours St. Patrick, Ireland's patron saint, who is said to have introduced Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century. Legend has it that he used a shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) to the Irish.

Although St. Patrick's Day has religious origins, it has become a largely secular celebration of Irish culture in many parts of the world, particularly in the USA, Canada and Australia. But whether in Ireland or elsewhere in the world, there's one drink that brings everyone together on this special day: Irish whiskey! Enjoyed neat or in the famous Irish coffee, it's the drink of choice in pubs and for aperitifs at home every March 17.

Unique whiskeys

Known for its unique triple distillation process, Irish whiskey has become an icon in the world of spirits. Our special St. Patrick's Day selection includes the most famous of these, such as BushmillsJameson and Teeling, as well as whiskeys from more discreet but equally promising distilleries such as WaterfordLambay and Connemara.

And because an aperitif wouldn't be complete without something to nibble on, pick from our selection of aperitifs and snacks to accompany your whiskey. As for beer lovers, we haven't forgotten you, and have chosen the best Irish beers to keep you in the St. Patrick's Day mood!
