First distillery built on Islay, 125 years ago, Kilchoman has been built as a “farm-distillery” and grows its own barley.

About 100 tons are harvested and malted at the distillery, 30% of the distillery’s needs. The rest is supplied by the Port Ellen malt-house. It is also part of the 6 last distilleries operating with traditional malting processes.
