The distillery has been built in 1816 on the South-East coast of Islay, not far from the ruins of Dunyvaig castle, the old fortress of the Lord of the Isles. Lagavulin produces a Single Malt almost as legendary as the island where it was born.

Among all the Islay malts, renowned for their peaty and smoky character, Lagavulin stands out for its depth and complexity: powerful and intensely peaty, it is also rich and round, almost mellow in the mouth. It is this double personality that makes it possible to better understand the exceptional "strength cask" versions offered by the distillery. The unique character and quality of Lagavulin whiskies allows the distillery to be part of the Classic Malts Selection. Created more than 20 years ago, the latter combines Single Malts, from the know-how of emblematic distilleries, to offer you the essentials of the great terroirs of Scotland.

Made in the birthplace of distilling, this iconic Islay malt is intense and smoky, steeped in history and tradition for over two hundred years.

Colour: intense gold.

Nose: smooth, with caramelised raisins and smoke, opening on red fruits (redcurrants, elderberry) and creamy butter.

Palate: full, refreshing and voluptuous, coating the palate with bittersweet notes of caramel, and candy apple. A warmth from the wood cradles a handful of nuts, bitter chocolate and gives way to briny notes.

Finish: deep, with a lasting note of charred wood accompanied with a pot of baked apples and cafe latte.
