Distillery : Glenfiddich / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 22808

Glenfiddich 125 Years is a limited edition released for the 125 years of the distillery, that has received several awards. This edition harks back to the opening day of the distillery, on Christmas day 1887, and truly embodies the genuine spirit of Glenfiddich distillery.

This Speyside Single Malt is a carefully crafted combination of peated and non peated whiskies, mainly resulting from Spanish Sherry casks and American Bourbon barrels.

This specific marriage is in fact a whisky of amazing depth, supple, with a medicinal backdrop and a toffee smoke puff typical of Speyside.

This Single Malt is presented in its anniversary edition metal box, with a certificate of authenticity and tasting notes.

The steep-sided valley where the Fiddich River flows, gave its name to the best-selling malt in the world.

The distillery is located on the banks of the river in Dufftown. Fiddich translates as “stag” from Gaelic and here’s why the animal is now the emblem of the distillery. This famous distillery has been established in 1886 and is still in the hands of the same family (as a limited company). In 1963, the company bet on spreading the Single Malt outside the borders of Scotland – which was considered as pure folly by blended scotch producers, deeming Single Malts as too intense, too richly aromatic or too complex for non-Scots drinkers. Glenfiddich remained traditional and is still heating its small stills with coal and ageing spirit in casks. The whiskies, aged in different woods, are blended in the Glenfiddich cellars, and bottled “at the chateau”! In fact, the distillery overlooks the complete bottling process. Glenfiddich is proud to own the most rewarded Single malt whisky range in the world.

Colour: sweet gold with amber highlights.

Nose: distinctive, smoky aromas of an extinct autumn fire, the first notes are medicinal and evoke fresh undergrowth, opening on Speyside toffee and fresh figs, Sevilla oranges and orange marmelade, with apple and smoked pine flavours. A drop of water reveals artist's varnish notes and deepens the smoke scent.

Palate: a rich, soft texture with crispy tanginess.

Finish: slightly mineral. Softened with water, the finish is smokier, and distinctely spicy.
