Arran Burgundy Cask 12 Years Old 70cl 53.6°

Archive Arran small batch 70cl 53.6

Distillery : Arran / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 23511

Usually, The Arran distillery experiments whiskies with finishing work with his "Cask Finishes" series. Exceptionally, we selected a 12-year-old version with complete aging in oak barrels that contained Burgundy wine.

This 12-year-old Arran Burgundy Cask is a 750-bottle limited edition only available at the Comptoir Irlandais.

This exceptional Single Malt was distilled in 2006 before enjoying a maturation in barrels of Burgundy wine for over 12 years .

The barrels of Burgundy wine are selected one by one directly in the cellars before receiving Arran distillate for 12 years. The exchange with these barrels containing Burgundy (pinot noir grape variety) for 12 to 24 months brings aromas of red fruits (blackcurrant, cherry) and prunes giving this whisky a gourmet note.

It is a whisky that gained in size and taste during these 12 years, which makes it a very aromatic whiskey.

The whiskey was then bottled without cold filtration and to its natural degree.

Arran is the only distillery located on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. It has been established in 1995 in Lochranza.

Arran has been a part of the world of whisky for a long time. In the mid 18th century, the island had nearly fifty distilleries (most of them illegal or “moonlight” distilleries), but they all have closed since then. The new distillery opened in 1995 and renewed the tradition of Arran. The spirit produced on Arran received the “whisky” label in 1998.

Colour: mahogany.

Nose: grapes, a little on the pear, dry straw, rather vigorous woody that goes on the fruit. Very aromatic.

Palate: strong influence of the barrel of Burgundy with greedy notes of grapes. Notes of liquorice and confectionery.

Finish: intense with medium to long length.
