Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2008 Rosé 75cl 12°

Brand : Veuve Clicquot / Country : France / Reference: : 23636

Like every vintage, Champagne wine is a reflection of the weather, the climatology of the year. In 2008, the final is superb and the maturity is in good conditions. The harvest, grouped throughout the Champagne, takes place between mid September and early October, under ideal conditions. The quality is exceptional, with a very good aging potential. Naturally, 2008 is therefore declared as Vintage Veuve Clicquot, the third of the decade after 2002 and 2004, the 65th of the House since the creation of the first Vintage in 1810.

New for this Vintage 2008: 5% of the wines were vinified and aged in wood shavings from the forests of central France, Allier and Vosges.

The objective is to reinforce the complexity and aromatic richness of our vintage, gastronomic wines. These wines are the spices of the assembly. They bring aromas very slightly woody, vanilla and grilled.
As with any vintage, Pinot Noir dominates, with 61% of the assembly. It comes mainly from the South of the Montagne de Reims and the Marne Valley with the following Great and Premiers Crus: Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tauxières, Avenay, Ay. The North side of the Montagne de Reims is also present: Verzy, Verzenay, Ludes. Chardonnay comes only from the Côte des Blancs (Mesnil sur Oger, Oger, Vertus) and represents 34%. The Miller coming from the Montagne de Reims (Ludes) and the Marne Valley (Dizy) completes the assembly to 5%. The red wines of Bouzy is part of the composition of the assembly at 14%.

Imagine the audacity of such a decision at a time when women were not even allowed to open a bank account in their name! They were considered a "family good", a bit like a vineyard.

Madame Clicquot played a crucial role in the creation of modern Champagne.

Since the acquisition of its first plot of Pinot Noir Grand Cru, Clos Colin, Veuve Clicquot has become the second largest owner of Champagne vineyards: 95% of the 393 hectares owned by the House are classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.

Madame Clicquot and her successor, Édouard Werlé, possessed a real spirit of conquest. Madame Clicquot used to say "I want my Champagne to be the first, from New York to St. Petersburg". Before the first half of the 19th century, Veuve Clicquot was enthroned on the tables of the main European royal courts. Veuve Clicquot wines were so famous all over Europe that, in Russian, "Klikofskoé", inspired by Clicquot, became the generic term for ordering Champagne.

A visionary and lasting commitment to customers and its commercial networks. Madame Clicquot paid considerable attention to public relations and communication. She also wrote many letters.

For the past 20 years, Veuve Clicquot has been using sustainable viticulture techniques.

Today, the 300 plots are cultivated as gardens and the House is strongly committed to the development of an environmentally friendly vineyard culture.

Innovation and daring creativity are at the heart of the history of the House as well as in each of its areas of activity: products and processes, service items, sustainable development, design and communication.

Veuve Clicquot has been working on its "Pinot Noir" signature since 1772. Thanks to its exceptional collection of wines, its "haute couture" blends and the importance given to time, Veuve Clicquot continues to offer a range of wines of great power and quality. an exceptional complexity.

The different wines of the non-vintage range present a coherent style: strength and complexity with a dominant Pinot Noir.

The vintage wines of Veuve Clicquot are racy and powerful. They express both the distinction and strength of Pinot Noir and the characteristics of the same year. Produced in an extremely limited and selective way.

Vintages over 20 years old, in both white and rosé, are carefully selected after specific dosing and disgorging.

Today, Veuve Clicquot remains a symbol of elegance while maintaining a happy twist!

Colour: bright pink tinged with light copper highlights. The bubbles, of great finesse, form a light and persistent cord during their surface explosion.

Nose: frank, fine and pure. In first sensation, it develops aromas of fresh red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry) mixed with the scents of citrus (grapefruit) perfectly matched with slightly spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla revealed after a short aeration. Characteristics of dried fruit and brioche finally delicately complete the richness and complexity of its aromas.

Palate: tasting, frank and tense attack gives way to a mouth of a large scale, dynamic and structured. In perfect agreement with the nose, the minerality unveils the gourmet aromas of red fruits of Pinot Noir (sour cherry) combined with slightly citrus notes of citrus Chardonnay. Subtle pastry characters reveal the slow and long maturation on lees of this vintage. Finally, combined with the crunchiness and freshness of the fruit, the power of the tannins is perfectly balanced to achieve a delicate and silky finish of an unsuspected length.
