FOCUS ISLAY

It could be nicknamed the paradise of peat. Located in the southwest of Scotland, the island of Islay is the most exposed to maritime influences. It enjoys a soil rich in peat bogs and particularly favorable to the cultivation of barley. These unique conditions allow the 9 distilleries currently in operation on the island to produce some of the most peaty, smoky and iodized whiskeys in Scotland. Those from the south offer powerful and intense malts while those from the north produce softer malts.

Always more peat!

It is during the barley drying stage that the peat fire will give it all its flavours. The exposure time, the amount of peat used and the temperature will influence the more or less peaty taste of the whisky.
