THE STORY
Some stories begin in the quiet of the cellars. The story of Les Fûts Oubliés begins in Brittany, in the heart of the Côtes d’Armor, where the Celtic Whisky Distillery tends to its barrels. It was here that, almost by chance, old barrels were rediscovered after having been forgotten for many years, allowing time to work its magic far beyond initial expectations.
A discovery born of chance and patience
These whiskies, sourced from renowned Scottish distilleries—some now defunct, others legendary—have continued to mature in an unusual setting. Each cask tells a unique story, shaped by the wood, time, and the distinctive conditions of the Breton cellars. This collection thus embodies a rare convergence of Scottish heritage and Breton influence, giving rise to distinctive and deeply authentic bottlings.
Maritime aging and absolute scarcity
Les Fûts Oubliés whiskies are distinguished by their aging in the maritime climate of Brittany, which plays a key role in shaping their flavor profile. The humidity and mildness of the sea air help to round out the spirits while intensifying their woody, spicy, and deep notes. The result: powerful yet elegant single malts that are highly complex and perfectly balanced.
Bottled straight from the cask in very limited quantities, these rare whiskies—often aged between 17 and over 30 years—are intended for discerning connoisseurs and collectors. Each bottle becomes a unique piece, enhanced by labels created by contemporary artists, transforming each vintage into a true work of art. More than just a collection, Les Fûts Oubliés offers an experience: the chance to taste the time, the memory, and the emotion of a rediscovered whisky.
1st edition: The Revelation
This first series, La Révélation, unveiled in October 2025, marks the moment of discovery: the moment when the barrels emerge from obscurity after several decades of silence. This first chapter brought together five exceptional whiskies paired with the work of artist Erika Raio. Her work echoes the slow evolution of the whiskies in the wood and the mark left by the years on both the materials and the spirits.
2nd edition: The Revival
With The Revival, the collection enters a new phase. The whiskies, which have long lain dormant in the cellars, are now regaining their energy, vitality, and character. This second series embodies the transition from shadow to light, from suspended time to tasting. For this second edition of Fûts Oubliés, Le Comptoir Irlandais has partnered with AVERI, a Breton artist with a background in street art.
