SKELDON 1978 DEMERARA 70CL 60.4° - BOTTLED 2006
Reference: 398013
Legendary Demerara rum distilled in 1978, aged 28 years and bottled at cask strength with molasses, cocoa, dried fruit and oak.
Skeldon 1978 Demerara is one of the most legendary rums ever bottled by Velier. Distilled in 1978 at the now-closed Skeldon Distillery on the banks of Guyana's Demerara River, this extraordinary rum was tropically aged for 28 years before being bottled in 2006 at its natural cask strength of 60.4% ABV. Produced in extremely limited quantities, it has become one of the world's most sought-after collector's rums. Its exceptional ageing delivers outstanding depth and complexity, perfectly balancing mature oak with rich fruit, spice and gourmet notes.
The nose is intensely aromatic with molasses, figs, dates, prunes, cocoa, roasted coffee and precious wood, layered with leather, beeswax, blond tobacco and exotic spices. The palate is rich, oily and immensely complex, offering dark caramel, dark chocolate, candied fruit, liquorice, walnuts, mocha and mature oak. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant with lingering spices, cocoa, dried fruits and a refreshing hint of mint.
