Vieux Sajous 5 Year Old Vintage 2020 is a pure sugar cane juice rum produced in Haiti at Distillerie Chelo and bottled by Velier. Made exclusively from the Cristalline sugar cane variety grown around Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye, it is distilled using traditional direct-fired pot stills. After five years of tropical ageing in Haiti, it is bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.52% ABV without dilution. This expression beautifully captures the richness of the Haitian terroir, combining fresh cane character with tropical maturity and remarkable complexity.
The nose offers intense aromas of fresh sugar cane, tropical fruits, ripe banana, pineapple, honey and vanilla, followed by cocoa, pepper, leather and precious oak. The palate is rich and powerful with candied fruits, liquorice, caramel, roasted coffee, toasted nuts and warming spices. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant with ripe fruit, cocoa, toasted oak and lingering fresh cane notes.
