On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the AOC Martiniquaise appellation, Velier presents an exclusive and exceptionally rare set of ten vintages of Saint James rum.
Founded in 1765 in Saint-Pierre by the alchemist priest, Edmund Lefébure, Saint James has known many lives. The Plantation passed from the Hospitaller order, the Fathers of Charity to the State after the French Revolution then to the private sector including François-Paulin Lambert, buyer in 1890 to whom we owe the emblematic square bottle of rum.
Surviving both the devastating eruption of Mount Pelee in 1902 and the collapse of the rum market after the First World War, Saint James has been able to constantly reinvent itself, to become one of the largest producers of rum from La Martinique, operating six Creole column stills to produce more than 4 million liters of rum per year.
Velier was founded by Casimir Chaix in Genoa in 1947 as an importer and distributor of wines and spirits. From the 90s, Velier becomes a reference for all tasters in the world with its premium selections of whiskey or rum.
