Depaz XO Cuvée Volutes is an exceptional agricole rum from Martinique, created especially to complement the enjoyment of fine cigars. Paying tribute to Victor Depaz, this special edition undergoes a unique three-stage maturation process, beginning in ex-bourbon casks, followed by first-fill American oak barrels and finished in small casks that previously held single malt whisky. This ageing method creates remarkable depth while adding a delicate smoky dimension.
The nose opens with candied orange, dark chocolate, dried fruits and roasted coffee, followed by hints of leather, cigar box and toasted oak. The palate is rich, silky and beautifully balanced with flavours of cocoa, sweet spices, cooked fruit and elegant oak. The finish is long, refined and lingering with notes of tobacco, chocolate and gentle smoky oak. It is an outstanding sipping rum, particularly suited to pairing with premium cigars.
