Distillery : Aberfeldy / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 25188

Comptoir Irlandais exclusivity

Located north of San Francisco, the Napa Valley is California's most famous wine region for its hundreds of vineyards and especially for its Cabernet Sauvignon grape.

It is therefore in barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon wine from Napa Valley that this limited expression whisky of Aberfeldy 15 years of age was brought to maturation. Ageing in red wine barrels gives it complexity and both sweet and rich notes of red fruits, violets, cinnamon, and ground coffee beans.

The Aberfeldy distillery is located in the southern part of the Highlands (Perthshire).

Aberfeldy was founded in 1898 by the Dewar family, and is located in the Highland region. The distillery uses water from Pitilie Burn which is famous for its alluvial gold deposits.

Aberfeldy proceeds to a long fermentation of 70 hours allowing a greater development of the aromas, in particular that of honey. In addition, the use of large copper stills with their specific heights and shapes gives the whiskey its delicate and elegant character.

The Aberfeldy whiskey is very firm and reveals ample notes of cereals and fruit. This is the most potent of the Central Highlands malts.

Nose: fruity, notes of berries and spices, with a refined touch of honeyed malt.

Palate: richly scented with notes of raspberry jam and violets, then cinnamon and ground coffee beans.
