The history of the Amrut Distillery is as old as the history of independent India itself. After six decades of notable progress, just like India, Amrut Distillery has grown and is now recognised as a world economic leader in the country.

Amrut Distillery Private Limited started in 1948 as Amrut Laboratories, with a very low initial investment. The founder is Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, commonly known as J.N.R.

Under the leadership of the founder, the Amrut distillery quickly progressed to establish itself as an important and preferred supplier of Indian Made Liquor (IML) in the defense market. In its home state of Karnataka, Amrut has become one of the dominant suppliers.

In the 1980s, driven by the desire to offer Indian consumers quality products in addition to rum and brandy distillation, Amrut embarked on the distillation of Malts with the aim of producing premium whiskies.

Nose: ample, fine. Subtle blend of fresh fruits (pear, apple, yellow melon) and petroleum notes (diesel). Very heady, it gradually becomes more floral (iris), herbaceous (bamboo, elderberry) and peppery.

Palate: rich, smooth. Lactic (coconut) and vanilla, notes of porridge, biscuit and panettone nourish the very end of the palate.

Finish: long, racy. Notes of candied lemons, heady. More and more floral, with scents of lily, honeysuckle and frangipani.
