The Whistler Imperial Stout Cask Finish is an Irish whiskey produced by Boann Distillery in County Meath. It belongs to The Whistler Cask Finish Series and stands out through its distinctive finish in casks that previously held Imperial Stout.
The whiskey begins with a blend of Irish malt, wheat and grain whiskeys. After an initial maturation in Bourbon casks, the whiskey is transferred into oak casks that previously held Imperial Stout. This process allows the wood to retain some of the beer’s character and gradually pass it on to the whiskey.
This unusual maturation creates an indulgent profile dominated by chocolate, roasted coffee, cocoa and caramel. The result is rounded and creamy, with additional depth provided by the stout casks.
