Chichibu On The Way 24 70cl 54.5°
Chichibu On The WayFloorMalted 2024 is the fourth edition in Chichibu Distillery's celebrated ‘On The Way’ series, celebrating its 16ᵉ anniversary.
This edition is distinguished by the exclusive use of barley malted using the traditional floormalting method (a traditional method of malting on the ground using hand power), a tribute to craftsmanship.
Aged between 4 and 10 years, this whisky has matured in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon casks, chibidaru (small Japanese oak casks / Quarter Casks), hogsheads with Mizunara oak, puncheons and wine casks, giving it an exceptional aromatic richness.
Produced in a limited quantity of 12,000 bottles, this edition perfectly reflects Chichibu's commitment to traditional methods and exceptional quality.
Chichibu distillery, located in Saitama prefecture, north of Tokyo, is owned by Venture Whisky, a Japanese whisky producer under the Ichiro’s Malt brand.
In 2007, Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery, started a new chapter in Japan's whisky history by building Chichibu distillery.
Situated about 70km north-west of Tokyo, production began in February 2008.
The equipment includes a small mill, a mash tun, washbacks made of Jpanese oak (mizunara) and a pair of small copper stills manufactured by Forsyths of Rothes, Scotland.
Several different casks types are used, including Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts and Hogsheads, all matured in a traditional Dunnage style warehouse.
Enhanced by their environment, Chichibu whiskies are non-chill filtered and not coloured.
This special edition pays tribute to Paris and its iconic monuments. It is made from a blend of 15 casks, including 12 bourbon casks, 2 quarter casks and one red wine cask.
