Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve 70cl 46.5°
Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve is a unique and rare expression from the association of Chichibu, Hanyu distilleries and also from Scottish Single Malt.
A vatted malt aged in barrels having contained red wine, then matured in Ovum barrels, French oak barrels.
In short, Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve is an exceptional whiskey with citrus and chocolate notes enhanced by beautiful spicy notes.
Chichibu distillery, located in Saitama prefecture, north of Tokyo, is owned by Venture Whisky, a Japanese whisky producer under the Ichiro’s Malt brand.
In 2007, Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery, started a new chapter in Japan's whisky history by building Chichibu distillery.
Situated about 70km north-west of Tokyo, production began in February 2008.
The equipment includes a small mill, a mash tun, washbacks made of Jpanese oak (mizunara) and a pair of small copper stills manufactured by Forsyths of Rothes, Scotland.
Several different casks types are used, including Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts and Hogsheads, all matured in a traditional Dunnage style warehouse.
Enhanced by their environment, Chichibu whiskies are non-chill filtered and not coloured.
