The Buffalo Trace Distillery takes its name from its location near the Kentucky River, near a road once used by multiple herds of bison.
Known by many names since its creation over 200 years ago, since 1999 it bears the name Buffalo Trace which can be found displayed in large letters at the top of a water tower, American Western style.
During Prohibition, it was one of the few distilleries authorized to produce alcohol for medicinal purposes. Today, it is the only Kentucky distillery to craft five different styles of whiskeys: two from rye, the other three from barley, wheat, or even 100% rye.
Buffalo Trace is credited with the widest range and largest stock of old American whiskeys. A great innovator, it is equipped with 1,500 experimental barrels, thanks to which it studies several types of ageing.
Finally, it is the only distillery to produce a vodka from organic corn. With numerous awards, it was notably elected Distillery of the Year in 2018 by Whiskey Magazine.
