Kingsbarns Coaltown Peated 70cl 46°

New Kingsbarns Coaltown Peated 70cl 46°
Brand : Kingsbarns / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 26116

This single malt is not peated in the true sense of the word, but aged exclusively in casks that have contained peated whisky.

These casks provide a palette of smoky flavors, which Isabella Wemyss skilfully blends to ensure consistency and introduce a light, pleasant smoke.

Coaltown is characterized by intense, deep aromas, with frequent hints of dried fruit, dark chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, it reveals an appealing complexity, blending balanced sweetness with spicy notes. The tasting often concludes with a long, pleasant finish, marked by harmonious roundness.

Coaltown of Wemyss, a mining village close to Wemyss Castle, ancestral home of the Wemyss family, has deep Fife roots and a long whisky tradition. Inspired by this rich heritage.

A true balance between the light style of their distillate and the influence of peated cask quality, without dominating it.

Since generations, the Wemyss family has cultivated a passion for whisky.

In 2005, they founded the independent bottling company “Wemyss Malts”, followed by the Kingsbarns distillery in 2014, establishing themselves firmly in the whisky industry.

William Wemyss, the founder, and Isabella Wemyss, the production manager, run Kingsbarns as brother and sister partners. Involved in every decision, they have led the distillery to the success it enjoys today.

Their respect for tradition, combined with a flair for innovation, has propelled the Wemyss name forward, forging new paths in the world of Scotch whisky and enriching the heritage of Lowland distilling.

The family continues to run Wemyss Malts, which thrives on creating exciting new blends and single casks.

Following the installation of the stills in 2014, distillation began in January 2015. Peter Holroyd, the distillery manager, and his team, delighted with the quality of the spirit, decided to bottle it.

Today, this whisky has won numerous awards.

Single Malt is made from just three ingredients: barley, water and yeast. At Kingsbarns, the barley is sourced exclusively from local farms, supporting British farmers in a sustainable way.

The castle on the bottles is the family's, and has become the distillery's emblem.
