Highland Park 18 Years Old 70cl 43°
Highland Park 18 Years Old is a great spirit bolstering the exceptional reputation of the distillery. It is probably the best whisky in the official range of Highland Park distillery.
This Single Malt has received numerous positive critics such as New York Times Magazine: "Deep aromas and taste sensations enchanting the senses. Brillant, splendid." or from Paul Pacult in the Spirit Journal "Nothing less than an aromatic miracle".
Highland Park 18 Years Old results from a combination of Sherry casks (40%) and Bourbon barrels. The higher proportion of Sherry casks in regard of other whiskies in the range gives it more complexity and aromatic intensity. Its floral character is evocative of some heady, floral perfumes.
This18 Year-Old version possesses an amazing nose where the wood matches the fruit: sherried notes, candied walnuts, roasted coffee and spices (cinnamon, ginger). The mouth leaves a rich, tasteful sensation and the finale opens up on spices, liquorice with an edge of peat. A pure delight.

Highland Park is the most northern Scottish distillery, and overlooks Kirkwall town and the famous Scapa Flow.
At the end of the 18th century, Magnus Eunson, pastor and famous smuggler, would have distilled whisky where the distillery is now sat. He used to hide stocks of illegal whisky under his pulpit. Highland Park doubled its production capacity in 1898, 10 years after being purchased by James Grant from the Glenlivet distillery. It has been part of the Highlands Distilleries Groups since 1937.
5 key elements contribute to the success of Highland Park Single Malt :

- The aromatic peat imparts a seducing and generous floral sweetness to the malt;
- Chill-maturation magnifies its sweetness;
- The oak casks account for the complexity and unique richness of the malt;
- The cask harmonization grants consistency and balance.
