Caroni 1996 Paradise n°1 Guyana Blended 70cl 62.7°
The Caroni 1996 Paradise No 1 bottling invites you on a unique sensory journey. Beneath its still lies a rum of shadow and light, bold but nuanced. The nose sways between vegetal tar, gentle vanilla, grilled honey and resinous wood. On the palate, a controlled power unfolds into layers of black plum, licorice, molten caramel, anchored by a mineral thread. The finish extends long, vibrant, marked by wild herbs, sun-warmed hay and a delicate noble bitterness. It is a collector’s rum, to be savored slowly, gazed at, contemplated.

Founded in 1918 in the heart of Trinidad and Tobago, the Caroni distillery has long been a flagship of local rum production. With its own sugar mill and supply of molasses, it developed an instantly recognizable style: dense, powerful rums with hints of molasses, spices, and sometimes tar or rubber, earning it a reputation as an inimitable “heavy rum.”
The distillery closed its doors in 2002, leaving behind limited stocks of barrels. These barrels, bought up and bottled in small quantities, have now become collector's items sought after by enthusiasts and aficionados around the world. Caroni is no more, but its legacy lives on through these rare bottles, where each sip tells a part of the history of Trinidad and Tobago and Caribbean rum.
