Laphroaig Elements 3.0 70cl 55.3%
Reference: 26852
An intensely peated Islay single malt with charcoal smoke, dark chocolate and spice, created through an unusual malting experiment.
Laphroaig Elements 3.0 is an experimental release exploring the influence of fire on whisky character. During an incident in the distillery’s malt kiln, a peat fire burned for longer and at a higher temperature than usual. The barley malt inside the kiln therefore underwent an unusual drying process, resulting in an exceptionally intense smoky profile. Distilled on the island of Islay and bottled at 55.3% ABV, this single malt displays a powerful personality, combining charred peat and sea salt with dark chocolate, citrus and spice. This release from the Elements series will appeal to peated whisky enthusiasts looking to discover an unconventional expression of Laphroaig’s craftsmanship.

Nose: Charcoal smoke and deeply charred peat combine with dark chocolate, spices and salty sea spray. Vanilla, lemon zest, butterscotch, plum and dates add a sweeter dimension.
Palate: An intense, warming arrival dominated by peat, followed by roasted cocoa and bitter dark chocolate. The powerful smoke gradually gives way to blackberry, plum and gooseberry, followed by a crème brûlée-like sweetness.
Finish: Long and dry, with lingering notes of iodine, leather, sea salt and sooty chimney smoke.
