The Forgotten Casks - Linkwood 34 ans - Erika Raio 70cl 43.3°
The Linkwood 34-year-old embodies the elegance and finesse of an exceptional single malt. Distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2023, it rested in Hogshead n°2009 in the Côtes d’Armor warehouses in Brittany. The mild, slightly humid climate influenced by the ocean allowed slow and steady maturation, preserving the lightness and subtlety of the malt. True to Linkwood’s classic style, it stands out for its strong fruity expression, enhanced by floral and malted notes. The palate is delicate and balanced, offering a light yet complex whisky where time and wood reveal themselves gracefully. Each sip transports the enthusiast into a refined world where fruit and the malt’s natural sweetness combine elegantly.

Some stories begin in the silence and darkness of wine cellars. The story of Les Fûts Oubliés (The Forgotten Casks) began in the Côtes d’Armor region, in the heart of the Celtic Whisky Distillery, known for Kornog and Glann Ar Mor. It was here that chance and patience came together, giving rise to a unique collection, where time itself seems to have been distilled in each cask.

Over time, some casks slipped into shadow, forgotten. During a visit, we discovered these treasures: whiskies from legendary and sometimes closed Scottish distilleries, aged far longer than originally planned. Each barrel tells a story, carefully crafted by wood, time, and the soft light of the warehouse.
The maritime climate of Brittany imparts a singular personality. Its gentle humidity softens the alcohol level and highlights wood and spice notes, creating whiskies that are powerful yet elegant, refined, and balanced. All are bottled at cask strength, in very limited quantities, making them rare and exceptional.
To complement this encounter, four Breton street artists were invited to design the labels. Like whisky, their art emerges from time and material, transforming each bottle into a unique work where memory, climate, and contemporary creativity meet.
In total, 17 whiskies make up this collection, aged from 17 to 34 years, divided into four series, the first scheduled for November 2025. Three casks – a Craigellachie, a Cragganmore, and an Aberfeldy – were bottled earlier between 2015 and 2020, judged ready for release. The others patiently waited for time and curiosity to bring them to life.
The Forgotten Casks finally emerge from the shadows. More than whisky, they embody the subtle dialogue between patience, tradition, and modernity. Each sip invites you to taste time, feel history, and explore a living heritage.
