The Cardhu distillery has been founded by smuggler John Cumming, in 1824, in Speyside, Scotland.

The whisky produced by the distillery is the main ingredient of the famous Johnie Walker blend. The unique character of Cardhu ranks the distillery in the Classic Malts Selection. Created more than 20 years ago, this selection recognizes Single Malts crafted in the tradition of iconic distilleries, and offers the most impressive whisky styles Scotland has to offer.

Standing on the wind-whipped heather fields that surround the Cardhu distillery today, the verdant lilac grounds belie the truth of Cardhu’s origin name, ‘the black rock’, Carn Dubh. From this splendoured hill, the Cardhu distillery grew with unmistakable allure. From its iconic red door, the distillery welcomed passers-by for centuries, inviting them with a vibrant whisky, crisp with the sweet taste of Scottish orchards.

Colour: old gold, deep and intense amber glow.
Nose: sweet and quite shy on the first hit. A first creamy and fruity note of vanilla and candy, underlined with a rich, invigorating floral perfume. The creamy fruitiness lingers with dried fig notes, rum-raisins sorbet, red apple peel and bee wax. A malty and biscuity body appears in the mid-palate. Rich, creamy overall, with custard, vanilla and fruit pudding showing through. A dash of water opens up floral and fruity scents, with tangerine candies.
Palate: at cask strength, quite mellow and flavoursome, with a slight tanginess. Clean, refined and pleasantly pungent and delicate. Appears as a quite aromatic spirit, with black cherries, spicy notes, evolving onto elegant and warming traits: dark chocolate with hazelnut balanced with a note of shortbread cake. Even smoother with a drop of water. Fresh and smooth appealing aromas of mint on a fruit salad, sprinkled with spices.
Finish: lingering, aromatic and warm. A mellow note of vanilla, balanced with juicy tangerine and a hint of orange essential oil, with an edge of spicy cedar, a late pungent and silky note over a smoke puff.
