The Cardhu distillery has been founded by smuggler John Cumming, in 1824, in Speyside, Scotland.

The whisky produced by the distillery is the main ingredient of the famous Johnie Walker blend. The unique character of Cardhu ranks the distillery in the Classic Malts Selection. Created more than 20 years ago, this selection recognizes Single Malts crafted in the tradition of iconic distilleries, and offers the most impressive whisky styles Scotland has to offer.

Standing on the wind-whipped heather fields that surround the Cardhu distillery today, the verdant lilac grounds belie the truth of Cardhu’s origin name, ‘the black rock’, Carn Dubh. From this splendoured hill, the Cardhu distillery grew with unmistakable allure. From its iconic red door, the distillery welcomed passers-by for centuries, inviting them with a vibrant whisky, crisp with the sweet taste of Scottish orchards.

Colour: old gold.

Nose: just like a flower, it slowly blossoms in intense flavours of tropical fruits and vanilla. Quickly, aromas become more complex with dried fruits and almonds notes. Adding water brings out the typical Speyside character, slightly more tangy and complex: sweet, spicy and rich, with a dense toffee finish and roasted coconut.

Palate: complex, it expresses dense, lightly toasted notes of caramel, chocolate and creme brulee.

Finish: soft with a dry finish, gives way to bitter dark chocolate flavours with a delicately smoky hint in the end.
