Caperdonich Unpeated 25 Years Old 70cl 48°

Distillery : Caperdonich / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 24648

The Unpeated range sees joining an expression 25 years of age, not peaty and not cold filtered.

As with the 21-year-old version, this Caperdonich Single Malt has aged in old American oak first fill barrels.

But here it is a sweeter and more complex profile that emerges with dominant notes of juicy cooked pear around a rich and warm malt, creamy chocolate and some spices.

Located in the town of Rothes, in the Speyside region, the Scottish Caperdonich distillery has remained secret throughout its existence, creating peaty or not expressions in Small Batch and some of which were used to compose Blends of Chivas Regal.

Founded in 1898 by the founders of Glen Grant, the distillery that lined the banks of Spey no longer exists. With a first closure 5 years after its launch, it reopened in 1965 with 2 new stills and a greater production capacity, which allowed it to make its place on the market. It closed definitively in 2002, before being dismantled brick by brick in 2011.

Today, we can find what remains of this legendary distillery through the Peated and Unpeated Caperdonich ranges of the Secret Speyside collection, which highlights the rarest expressions of the region.

Nose: creamy and sweet with notes of wild blackcurrant jam, milk chocolate and hazelnuts and cooked pear.

Palate: the attack is focused on blackcurrants, but then evolves towards the heat and the spiciness of the spices (cinnamon).

Finish: long, rich in flavours of pear and sweet spices.
