Glen Keith, founded in 1958 by the Chivas brothers, is a former mill transformed into a distillery with the aim of producing a Single Malt using the triple distillation process. The distillery has also performed yeast trials and has produced its own strain of yeast. Glen Keith was the first distillery to heat its stills with gas and to computerize its production tool.
In 1970, the triple distillation method was abandoned and the number of its stills increased from three to five. A few years later, in 1983, a sixth still was installed.
In 1999, the distillery closed and was relaunched two years later by the Pernod Ricard group. Most of Glen Keith’s production goes into blends.
