New Old forester Bourbon 70cl 43°
Distillery : Old Forester / Country : United States / Reference: : 26185

Old Forester 86 Proof is an iconic Kentucky bourbon, made to a traditional recipe dating back to 1870.

Made from 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, it is distilled twice: first in a column still, then in a thumper still.

A thumper still is an intermediate chamber that redistills the alcohol vapors, increasing their degree and refining the aromas without requiring a second complete distillation.

After distillation, it is aged in new American oak barrels, in line with the requirements for Kentucky bourbons.

Old Forester is not just a bourbon, it's a monument to American history. Founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown in Louisville, Kentucky, it was the first bourbon to be bottled and sealed, guaranteeing consistent quality at a time when spirits were often adulterated.

During Prohibition (1920-1933), Old Forester was one of the few distilleries allowed to continue production thanks to a government license for medicinal use. Today, the distillery is still owned by the Brown family, via the Brown-Forman group, and continues to influence the bourbon industry, in the same way as the Grant family with Glenfarclas in Scotland, which has preserved its independence and heritage generation after generation.

Old Forester has also pioneered a number of innovations: it was the first to introduce a Single Barrel, vintage bourbons and, in the 1960s, it launched an 86 Proof version (43°) in response to the cocktail boom in the USA. This made his whisky more accessible, while maintaining a classic 90 Proof (45°) bottling, the standard for American bourbon.

The brand is also renowned for its iconic editions, such as 1920 Prohibition Style, Statesman and Birthday Bourbon, highly sought-after by collectors.

With over 150 years of history, Old Forester embodies authentic, timeless bourbon, combining tradition and innovation.
