Teeling Single Grain 70cl 46°

Distillery : TWC / Country : Ireland / Reference: : 22592

Matured in barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from California, Teeling brings a refreshing experience with this Single Grain that turns out to be a beautiful amber spirit with lush fruit notes.

Irish Single Grain are very uncommon as they are usually the base of renowned brands blended whiskeys. In recent years, however, grain whiskey (corn and wheat) and its alliance of unique ingredients, distilled in column stills for an extremely pure, smooth and soft result, have been rediscovered .

The maturation in barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon brings depth to the character of the Single Grain produced from corn and wheat. The result is a soft, fruity Irish whiskey (red fruit and grapes) with notes of vanilla, honey and caramel with salted butter. The view of Jack Teeling, co-founder of Teeling Whiskey Company is that "if you put a good grain distillate in good casks to enrich its aromas and underline its softness, you will get a good whiskey in the end."

This expression was awarded the title of Best Irish Single Grain in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 at the World Whiskies Awards.

TWC is an independent distillery founded by Jack and Stephen Teeling, John’s son, who established the Cooley distillery in 1987.

The Teeling family has been crafting Irish whiskey since 1782, date on which Walter Teeling founded one of the 38 Dubnlin distilleries in Marrowbone Lane in the area of Liberties. This is also in this area, at the heart of Dublin, this Jack and Stephen Teeling opened their own distillery, more than 200 years after their ancestor.

Unlike other Irish distilleries triple-distilling their whiskey, this new distillery distils only twice (pot still) just like the Cooley distillery. It is the only distillery to produce pot still whiskey in all of Dublin. Moreover, Teeling likes varying the whiskey finishes, imparting a real gourmet edge to the traditional Irish character.

Colour: warm amber.

Nose: spicy and fruity flavours mingle gently.

Palate: spicy with hints of red fruit and grapes provided by Cabernet Sauvignon. The trend is towards honey and butterscotch.
