Dalmore develops Vintage versions combining whiskies distilled on the same year.

The current version of Dalmore Vintage has been distilled in 2006 and results from a maturation in american Bourbon oak casks and then transferred to first fill Bourbon barrels for an extra maturation of two years. These barrels have been carefully selected by Malt Master Richard Paterson.

The result is a rich, mellow and floral whisky.

Established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, this Northern Highlands distillery owns a very old still which neck is cooled by a water stream, which clears the distillate from its heaviest elements.

This might explain its ability to age for a long period (more than 50 years), even if a bottle of that age is extremely rare and pricey. The Dalmore is one of the rare distilleries that used to be managed by a woman, between 1860 and 1866. When the Mackenzie family bought the distillery in 1866, she brought with her the symbol of the clan – a stag head with twelve horns – meaning “royal”, labeled on each bottle released by the distillery. In  1960, the distillery merged with the Whyte & Mackay company, founded by Mackenzie relatives.

A quite silky Single Malt of the Highlands with floral and fruity notes with a mellow finish.

Colour: copper with old gold reflects.

Nose: seductive and heart-warming as enticing aromas of lemon grass, Manuka honey, vanilla pod and toffee apple flaunt themselves in an elegant manner before another wave of ripe grapefruit, Cape gooseberries, freshly cut flowers and tangs of Ylang Ylang slowly rise to the occasion.

Palate: a gentle breeze of unforgettable flavours drifts over the palate as an avalanche of ripe orchard fruits, Turkish Delight, moist lemon drizzle cake and banana bread takes centre stage.

Overall: sweet. Peach syrup, lime marmalade, ginger spice and crushed pistachios brings this panoply of pleasure to a memorable close.
