Akkeshi Blended Shosho 70cl 48°
This fourth Akkeshi of the "24 seasons" series, echoing the 24 seasons of the old Japanese calendar, is named Shosho. This name refers to the period that marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, when the temperatures drop and the barley is harvested.
For this bottling, Akkeshi offers a blended whisky composed of a majority of malt whiskeys distilled in Akkeshi as well as some grain whiskeys imported and aged in the distillery's cellar.
Before being blended, these whiskeys are all aged in different barrels: Bourbon, Mizunara oak and Sherry. The result of this marriage is complex and deep, with smoky, saline and slightly bitter notes.

The Japanese distillery Akkeshi produces its whiskeys by combining traditional Scottish methods and unique ingredients from Japan.
The Japanese distillery Akkeshi was founded in 2016 by the company Kenten Jitsugyo whose leader, Keiichi Toita, was seduced by the smoky and peaty notes of Islay malts during his first "unforgettable" experience with a 17-year-old Ardbeg in a bar from Ginza.
Nicknamed little Lagavulin, the Akkeshi distillery is located on the island of Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan, where it enjoys a cool and humid climate with frequent sea fogs reminiscent of the climate of the famous Scottish distillery.
In this lush natural environment, the distillery's guideline is to combine traditional Scottish methods and unique local resources from Japan to craft their Japanese take on Islay Smoked Malt Whiskies.
It will be necessary to wait until 2020 to see the appearance of the first Japanese Single Malt whiskey from the Akkeshi distillery, a true embodiment of local craftsmanship.
Ritto is a complex, fruity and peaty Single Malt made 100% in Japan, from its distillation to its bottling.
