Women's Silver Claddagh Ring

Reference: : 37524

The quintessential traditional Irish ring, the Claddagh ring symbolizes friendship (the hands), love (the heart), and loyalty (the crown).

Its origin is associated with Claddagh, a fishing village in County Galway in the west of Ireland. Originally, it was given as an engagement gift or worn as a wedding ring. Today, it continues to be associated with love but can also be used as a token of friendship. Many people also wear the Claddagh symbol as a sign of cultural identity.

An old tale tells of a master goldsmith, Richard Joyce, who lived in this village 400 years ago and was captured and enslaved by pirates. He eventually regained his freedom and, upon returning to his village, used his talent to create the Claddagh symbol—a heart symbolizing love nestled between the hands of friendship and crowned with a promise of fidelity. The years that have passed since then have not diminished the strong feelings evoked by the Claddagh: love and friendship forever bound together.

There are different ways to wear your Claddagh: Worn on the right hand with the crown facing inward, your heart is free. Worn on the right hand with the crown facing outward, a beautiful love story has begun. But worn on the left hand with the crown facing outward, two loves have become inseparable.
