Do you know S'mores?

06/01/2019

S'more is an American classic and the favorite dessert of children (young and old)!

The name of this dessert comes from the fact that we ask for more ("some more" in English) as soon as we finish eating it ...

_______________

There is not a precise way to make an S'more. The way you like is the right one. The recipe below is the one that is passed on as a family, in barbecues as well as in summer camps. If your child has not tasted them yet, make sure you pack all the ingredients you need for your next camping trip!

Traditionally, it takes a campfire but the S'more can also be prepared with a barbecue (or in the kitchen with an oven). Nobody knows who invented the recipe because it is transmitted mainly by word of mouth but the first known recipe appeared in 1927 in a book dedicated to scout girls.

Ingredients:

- Digestive biscuit

- Cadbury chocolate bar (in piece)

- Marshmallows

- Skewer picks for grilling marshmallows

Steps:

1/ Take a Digestive biscuit. Cover with pieces of chocolate.

2/ Grill a marshmallow over the campfire or barbecue, turning it so that each side is golden brown.

3/ Put the golden marshmallow(s) on the pieces of chocolate and close with another Digestive biscuit, pressing firmly to remove the marshmallow pick.

4/ When S'more is assembled, let stand a few seconds. The heat of marshmallow will melt the chocolate and you will not burn your mouth.

All you have to do is savor your S'more by taking it right in your fingers so you do not run marshmallow or melted chocolate on your clothes.
