Melifera : Immortelle flower spirits
Discover Gin Melifera and Spritz Des Dunes, spirits created with wild Immortelle flower.
An island, a flower, a legend
Created on the Ile d'Oléron, Melifera is the first organic gin made from the wild Immortelle flower. It is made from 100% natural ingredients. The Immortelle flower is a symbol of the dunes and brings a unique touch of warmth and sunshine.
The distillation is carried out in Saint-Palais in the Charente-Maritime region of France. This distillery possesses ancestral know-how and favours sustainable production. Melifera is committed to protecting biodiversity, in particular by protecting its black bees (whose scientific name is Apis Melliefa Melifera). Respectful of the ecosystem, Melifera has the Ecocert label.
It is the one and only organic gin to use Immortelle flower, which is harvested by hand from plants sown on the island of Oleron. Melifera takes you on a journey to the sand dunes of Oléron.
Melifera Gin
This is a Gin made from 9 botanicals. On the palate, the attack is very round, smooth and aromatic. The balance between juniper berries, cardamom, angelica, Immortelle and many others brings back memories of the beach and childhood.
The story contained in this bottle tells of a French queen who married the first King of England in 1152. The crown of flowers delicately adorned on the bottle symbolises the finery she wore at her wedding. According to legend, she added Immortelle flowers to her crown in the belief that this would ensure the success of her union.
Spritz des Dunes
Spritz des Dunes arrived 3 years after Gin Melifera. The aim was to create a French spirit that was artisanal and less sweet than those on the market. Spritz des Dunes is the first Bitter to capture the essence of the Immortelle flower.
This Spritz is made with Immortelle flower and over 20 plants and spices. Immortelle is very present at the start, and is then quickly supported by notes of citrus and red fruit, which add a fresh, fruity note. Then comes a note of warm, oriental spices. Finally comes the bitterness, a blend of botanicals that prolongs the taste on the palate.
Voted Spirits of the Year in the aperitif category at Vinexpo in Paris in February 2024.
