Willett 8 Year Cask 18632 70cl 59.1°

Country : United States / Reference: : 26197

Founded in the spring of 1936 by Thompson Willett, the Willett Distillery put its first barrel to age on March 17, 1937, St. Patrick's Day. After closing in 1980, it was taken over in 1984 by Martha Willett and her husband Even Kulsveen, and resumed production on January 21, 2012, after a complete renovation.

This single barrel is made with a classic mash bill: 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% barley, offering an aromatic celebration of corn. The lingering aromas in the empty glass attest to the richness and intensity of this bourbon.

Nose: refined and deep; apricot and peppery, with notes of pure corn; when aerated, citrus (orange, tangerine), wax, salted butter caramel, cucumber, and ginger.

Appearance: old gold with coppery highlights.

Palate: lively and subtle; flavors of orange, caramel, and corn, prolonged by oak staves, praline, and dried fruit (date, walnut).

Finish: rich and silky; powdery (cocoa, ginger), vanilla, with oriental nuances (curry, saffron, orange blossom); retro-olfaction evoking cardamom tea.
