Nagahama The First Batch 50cl 50°

Distillery : Nagahama / Country : Japan / Reference: : 25391

Six years after embarking on the distillation of whisky (in 2016), the Japanese distillery Nagahama, the smallest in Japan, is launching its very first Vatted Single Malt in 2022!

For this first edition, Master blender Yusuke Yahisa has selected four types of whisky distilled between 2017 and 2019: a whisky aged in ex-Bourbon casks for the main frame, skilfully blended with a whisky aged in Sherry Cask, another aged in Islay Quarter Cask and finally to a last aged in Mizanura oak barrels.

The result is a whisky with a malty and elegant character, very rich on the palate, in which the full style of Nagahama whiskies is expressed.

Founded in 2016, Nagahama is considered the smallest distillery in Japan.

It also uses one of the smallest stills in the country for its distillation process, called “aranbic” in reference to its characteristic shape reminiscent of Arab architecture.

Based on the shores of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, the distillery produces Japanese Single Malts and also carefully selects whiskies produced all over the world to create perfectly mastered Blends.

For its production, Nagahama benefits from mineral-rich water during the snowmelt of Mount Ibuki, located just behind the distillery.

Nose: very expressive, with fruity (apple, persimmon), gourmet (vanilla, caramel, coconut) and fresher aromas of raspberry and cranberry.

Palate: sweet, with notes of cookies just out of the oven, dried apricots and black tea.

Finish: rich in flavours, between slight bitterness and woody notes.
