LEATHER ORIGINS

Leather is a fabric made from animal skin, mainly from mammals such as beef, pork and goats.

Known for its durability and comfort, leather is the material with the oldest use, from the first humans to the present day.

MANUFACTURING

To make leather, animal skins are recovered from the meat and milk industry.

The skin is perishable and must undergo a transformation through the tanning stage, which can be vegetable or mineral, in order for it to become durable.

The leather can then be dyed, then smoothed or polished.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF LEATHERHE

The main advantage of leather is that it provides a high quality of comfort in addition to being a particularly resistant material and therefore durable over time. And even when the leather ages, it forms a patina which gives a timeless vintage look.

Leather is also one of those very beautiful, timeless materials that always bring so much elegance and style to an outfit.

It also has few drawbacks apart from the fact that it requires careful maintenance and does not tolerate prolonged exposure to water and sunlight.

CARE OF LEATHER

Throughout its life, a leather must be nourished and well cared for. But its maintenance begins by avoiding exposure to water, the sun or a source of intense heat.

Machine washing, tumble drying and ironing are strongly discouraged for cleaning leather.

For a good cleaning, it is necessary to privilege a soft cotton cloth and soap. And for its maintenance, a suitable cream is welcome.
