Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013 70cl 50°
This Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013 is the eighth edition of an unpeated Single Malt made from barley grown locally on the island of Islay, on seven island farms.
Each Islay Barley expression brings its distinctive nuance and this bottling distilled in 2013 has been aged in a combination of old American and European oak barrels for eight long years.
The expression is complex, pure and delicate, with fruity citrus, malty and floral notes with a signature maritime touch from Islay.

Established in 1881, this Islay distillery faces Bowmore on the other side of the Loch Indaal.
In the past, it produced the less peated and lightest malts of the island, due to its four long-necked stills. As it almost disappeared in 1995, it was purchased by a group of investors who trusted Jim McEwan (former Bowmore employee) with the responsibility over distillation and blending. Since then, it has been a feast of fascinating novelties and releases…
A rare fact in Scotland, the Bruichladdich distillery (“Bruk-ladie”) uses a brewing vat in open air. Its onion-shaped stills have a very flat bottom and a long neck. The very light peated Bruichladdich Single Malt is unfairly underestimated. It reveals indeed a maritime origin with an iodized nose and a salty mouth flavour. Longer maturation imparts a full body to the whisky and makes it a gourmet, elegant malt. Bruichladdich is also perfect when aged in sherry casks.
The distillery produces also two heavily peated whiskies: Port Charlotte and Octomore.
