The Angostura brand takes its name from the town of the same name and renamed Ciudad Bolívar, in Venezuela. Back in 1824, Dr. Siegert developed a "bitter" with plant extracts to cure sick soldiers: this how was created the famous aromatic Angostura.
In 1945, expertise in rum distillation became more prominent as the company witnessed the arrival of a chemist and a specialist in sugar refinery. The company develops its own yeast for the fermentation of rum and its own cooperage. Angostura became then a worldwide famous company.
