Mortlach 12 Years Old 2012 INK3 S.V. 70cl 59.8°

Brand : Signatory Vintage / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 24877

This edition of the 12 Year Old Mortlach is part of our INK #3 series selected by our experts and Signatory Vintage exclusively at Le Comptoir Irlandais.

Founded in 1823, Mortlach is said to have been built on the site of an old illicit distillery. It is one of the very few distilleries authorized to produce alcohol during World War II until 1944.

Mortlach whiskey is renowned for its power and finesse. The whiskey is distilled there 2.81 times, more than any other Scotch whisky, which brings delicacy and subtlety to this Single Malt. Like many malt distilleries, few official bottlings exist (Flora & Fauna).

This Single Malt was distilled in 2012 and aged 12 years in Hogshead (reconstituted cask).

Bottled cask strength, in its natural colour.

Aromatic profile: with character and woody and pastry notes.

Nose: peppery, malty on black tea. Develops on heavier scents of undergrowth, damp earth, grilled meat and grilled almonds.

Palate: fat with an impressive texture, on pastry aromas of salted butter caramel and almonds. Pepper from the nose is still present.

Finish: long on more fruity and fresher notes.
