Aran sweaters and accessories
The traditional 100% pure wool Irish sweater is named after the Irish archipelago of Aran Islands located off the West coast near Galway, where it was created.
The traditional Irish sweater is crafted with pure virgin wool, of a natural off-white (beige) colour, round-necked and extremely tight-woven. It protects from the rain and keeps you warm. Originally, Aran jumpers were knit with un-scoured or “fat” wool that retained its natural oils or lanolin, but today’s wool is washed and dyed to craft more comfortable and attractive garments.
For a few years, the Irish sweater has entered the fashion world and is regularly put in the spotlight and revisited by creators.
When days are shorter, we do appreciate to spend more time hunkered down at home. This is the time of the year when we want our rooms to be as cosy and comfortable as possible.
Whether they are slung over a chair or used as decoration on a sofa or a bed, wool throws are a must-have. They add texture, warmth and colour to a room and can transform ordinary furniture to the stars of the room.
Cosy, warm and wonderfully knit in varieties of wool (such as mohair or lambswool), the Irish plaids enhance our interior.
Officially adopted by Royal Navy as military garment during World War II, the Duffle-coat became then very popular.
Today, the Duffle-coat became an essential wardrobe garment, for men and women of any age and equally dapper in the city or in the countryside.
The London Tradition duffle-coats bring a very modern cut, traditional manufacturing processes and first quality material to create practical, stylish coats.
In 2014, the company has been rewarded with the prestigious “Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2014 for International Trade”.
Kilts & traditionnal clothing
In Scotland, to kilt historically means to tuck up the clothes around the body. The word derives from old Norse "kjalta", a word of Scandinavian origin. Contrary to public opinion, the kilt does not belong only to Scottish culture but is also worn in Ireland and even Brittany!
Today, the kilt is worn for wedding celebrations, sports competitions and music and dance contests, but has also been reintroduced as a casual outfit and in the fashion world. Some of the tartans, such as the Royal Stewart, became items of counterculture, and are now widespread and very popular.
