What is amber rum?
An amber rum is a rum that has spent between 18 months and 3 years of aging in oak barrels whose wood will give it this beautiful amber colour. Below this period, it is still a white rum. Beyond 3 years, it is an old rum.
We can find different appellations: amber, raised under wood, gold or glod straw depending on the origin of rum production.
Produced from the distillation of pure cane juice and on average 20% less strong in alcohol than white rum, amber rum is known for the richness of its fragrance and its sweet flavours. This makes it a very popular rum for cocktails or the elaboration of spiced rum.
