Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is made from extracts of 12 botanicals, Gunpowder green tea, citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon and lime), spices and berries (juniper, angelica and iris roots, cumin and coriander seeds, meadowsweet, cardamom and star anise).
The spices and berries are slowly distilled in copper stills, while the citrus fruits and Gunpowder green tea (dried and rolled leaves) are infused.
The resulting gin is incredibly balanced, very fresh with floral and spicy notes.
Over the years, PJ Rigney has traveled extensively from his family lands in Ireland to distant lands in the East. These trips brought him back to the wild and unspoiled lands of County Leitrim in Ireland at Drumshanbo. It is in this small town that Rigney begins to manipulate the oriental traditions of the distillation of fruits, herbs and aromatic plants.
PJ Rigney created The Shed distillery in 2014. To distill his gin, he uses medieval copper stills and fuses his oriental botanicals discovered during his travels with herbs from Irish lands.
