Clynelish 10 Years Old Special Release 2023 70cl 57.5°

Distillery : Clynelish / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 25687

Diago's Special Release range welcomes, for its 2023 edition, a 10-year-old Clynelish with a dancing profile called the Crescendo du Jazz.

Matured exclusively in first-fill Bourbon barrels, it is a vibrant expression like a classic American jazz score, whose soft tones of caramel and vanilla at first evolve towards rich, more spicy notes.

Clynelish is a new distillery founded in 1967, facing her sister distillery Brora. Brora used to produce premium heavily peated malts to cover a shortage of Caol Ila production. Brora permanently stopped its production and closed in 1983.

Clynelish is located in the Northern Highlands, in a rural setting of bramble-filled woods, complete with a fully glazed still room overlooking the sea. It is also the natural habitat of the elusive Scottish wildcat, Felix Sylvestris. Few of these evanescent creatures remain, and they are rarely seen, but the symbol of the wild cat is inscribed on the Clyenlish distillery, protecting it forever.

The distillery produces a fresh, very fruity malt, most of which is used in the Johnnie Walker Gold Label blend.

Colour: light gold.

Nose: mineral and maritime, slightly waxy, which tends towards woody aromas.

Palate: waxy and robust before softening with notes of salted caramel then enhanced by increasingly present pepper.

Finish: long, dry and spicy with hints of coconut.
